Gavin Clydesdale born 1827 Glasgow,Scotland died 1850 aged 23 years old,he was killed while
kangeroo shooting on his horse from which he was thrown. .
In 1851 three of the youngest children of the family were killed,they were playing,swinging on a dray
loaded with wood,it tipped over crushing them all to death these children were Robert,Archibald and Helen Clydesdale.They are all in the same grave,with their parents added in 1880 Jean Campbell McLaurin and 1884 Gavin Clydesdale with daughter Jane who also died in 1884,are
all buried at St.Thomas Church,Enfield,Sydney,NSW,Australia.

The Clydesdale headstone has an original inscription about Gavin Clydesdale which reads 'Sacred to the memory of Gavin Clydesdale,Junior,Blacksmith,who departed this life 16th March 1850,aged 23years,

My Bellows,too,have lost their wind,
My fire's extinct,my forge decayed,
And in the dust my voice is laid,
My coal is spent,my iron's gone,
My nails are drove,my work is done',
